ICI ctr in Kuwait boosts partnership with GCC - NATO

KUWAIT, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- The NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) regional center in Kuwait will contribute to boosting partnership with GCC States, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg affirmed Tuesday.
Having the center in Kuwait proves NATO's capability in adjusting to new challenges and working with Gulf countries, Stoltenberg said in a joint press conference with First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The center aims at forming a friendly partnership in the Gulf region, he noted, adding that such a partnership would enable the two sides to work jointly in facing a number of challenges such as terrorism, cyber-attacks, and instability in some countries in the region.
Meanwhile, Stoltenberg indicated that the ICI regional center in Kuwait will dispatch mobile training teams to work with officers and officials in the region in order to expand joint cooperation frameworks, explaining that NATO's main motive is about partnership; not security guarantees or military cooperation.
