NATO is not an alliance acting against any one or any country, but an alliance that defends certain important principles and rules of the international law, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller said in Yerevan.

NATO is dealing with new modern threats, for example, terrorism, which is an excellent example how the Alliance stands for defending against non-state actors who would cause violence to public, innocent citizens, Gottemoeller said during a meeting at the Yerevan State University.

The NATO official named cyber attacks among the new threats NATO is face with in the modern world.

“We do not see a return of the Cold War. We see a different work nowadays, a world that is defined by different challenges and threats, and NATO has to think how to defend against wider array of challenges,” she added.
