YEREVAN. -- NATO hopes to see new momentum in resolving the Karabakh conflict as it will be good for entire region if it can be resolved, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller said in Yerevan on Monday.

“On behalf of NATO I would say we are very positively glad to see recent high level diplomatic efforts and hope that it will get there soon,” she said during a meeting at the Yerevan State University.

Gottemoeller added that she was working for President Clinton back in the 90s and remembered the early days of the crisis.

“I regret that 25 and more years have gone by and the conflict is still unresolved. It is very important for Armenia and Azerbaijan to be working together. I was glad that foreign ministers got together on the margins of the OSCE ministerial meeting two weeks ago in Vienna and the presidents met in October,” Gottemoeller said, adding that she is delighted that U.S. at such a level is again engaging in the peace process.
