Political scientists comment on Volodin’s advice about Uzbekistan

In an interview with Kun.uz, political scientists Farkhod Tolipov, Kamoliddin Rabbimov and economic analyst Abdulla Abdukadirov said that the advice given by the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin to the Uzbek authorities to avoid contact with America was an insult against the state.

“Do we call this a Russian politician’s lesson to our politicians? In general, no matter how words are expressed, these are actions that show the neo-imperial mood that they cannot escape.

Imperialism is deeply rooted in their leadership, elites, political parties, pundits and even ordinary people. It is passed down from generation to generation. They can’t be converted to liberal ideas.

This is not the first time that the Russian government disrespects us. It’s just the following one. This is a long-standing trend. There are many examples of this. For example, in December of last year, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an ultimatum to the US and NATO that the West should not cooperate in the military sphere not only with Central Asia, but also with any of the former Soviet republics. It turned out to be an appeal on behalf of the former Soviet republics. So, did they ask us, Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan about our wishes?

This is not to undermine independence and sovereignty. In this sense, we can understand it as an insult.

Today I discussed this issue with the students I teach. After their answers, I wondered if political scientists didn’t understand what the students understood. That is, the students are saying, well, if Russia’s relations with the USA are not good, what do we have to do with it? If they hate the US, why should we? Well, if they don’t cooperate, why shouldn’t we?

This is pressure. This is the appearance of neo-imperialism.

Volodin’s statement also contains words that the US can destroy Uzbek families and values. I am asking my students if the USA destroyed any of your families,” Farkhod Tolipov told, speaking about the topic.

According to Kamoliddin Rabbimov, Russia has fallen into a difficult situation due to the war with Ukraine, and all the masks on its face have been removed.

“In other words, most of the leading countries have turned away from Russia. Even China is being cautious. Now it has no choice but to openly blackmail.

Russia has maintained geopolitical pressure on Central Asia before the Ukraine war. Today, these pressures are devalued. That is why there is no other way but blackmail,” the analyst said.

Economic analyst Abdulla Abdukadirov said that Uzbek politicians are also to be blamed for Volodin’s disrespect.

“When one of our officials is awarded an order and “ready to serve”, Volodin will definitely come and start “ruling”. This is a very strange situation that demeans the pride of Uzbekistan,” he said.
