FORT CARSON, Colo. – Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, Maj. Gen. David Doyle delivered a heartwarming farewell to the outgoing 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (1SBCT) commander, Col. Anthony Keller, during an award presentation before the 1SBCT Change of Command Ceremony at the historic Founders Field on Fort Carson, March 13, 2025. The Change of Command ceremony was being held for the incoming brigade commander, Col. John “Clint” Tisserand.
Keller welcomed his long time friend and successor, Col. Tisserand as well as his family, to their new home and his new position as the Raider Brigade commander.
“Clint, it’s great serving with you again,” said Keller “Last time we were just Iron Majors at 2CR (2nd Cavalry Regiment) doing all the things across Europe. I have no doubt in my mind and in my heart that you’re ready to lead the team.”
Tisserand left his previous position as an instructor for the Department of Command Leadership Management at the Army War College to take command of the Raider Brigade. With him he brings an invaluable wealth of over two decades of experience and decorated service. Ranging from his time as a West Point cross country team captain, and boxing instructor, to his service as the Chief of Deployment for the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps.
Born in Kentucky, and the son of a retired colonel who now calls Pennsylvania home,Tisserand sported a subtle southern drawl as he thanked Maj. Gen. Doyle, Col. Keller, the honored guests in attendance and the hundreds of troops in formation, for their support.
“Thank you very much to you and your staff for welcoming me and my family to the Mountain Post,” Tisserand said, addressing general Doyle directly. “This has been fantastic. TK (Keller), thank you very much for a first class RIP(relief in place). You’ve been dedicated to the unit but put such a considerable amount of time into developing and working toward this transition. I genuinely appreciate it and I wish you and your family the best of luck as you continue on in NORTHCOM (U.S. Northern Command).”
Keller leaves the Raider Brigade in the competent and capable hands of Tisserand to take on his new position at NORTHCOM less than an hour away. The proximity and shared experience of these two will benefit not only the Raider Brigade, but all of Fort Carson, the state of Colorado and every service member they have influenced, and will continue to inspire.
One of Tisserands primary goals for his time at the Mountain Post is to “ensure that Soldiers are prepared to succeed across the conflict continuum”
The change of command ceremony is a revered tradition symbolizing the continuity of leadership and the trust placed in the new commander to lead the brigade into the future.
