Brunei Bolsters Ecotourism Through Strategic Efforts

(MENAFN) Brunei is actively advancing its ecotourism sector by means of a series of well-planned initiatives, including inviting foreign researchers for biodiversity expeditions and organizing familiarization trips for international travel agents and influencers, a government minister announced on Monday.

Haji Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, highlighted that scientists are currently exploring the rich biodiversity of Brunei’s interior forests on the island of Borneo, aiming to document and promote its unique flora and fauna.

To further enhance tourism, the ministry is focusing on specialized offerings such as birdwatching and wildlife excursions. Additionally, a range of strategies has been implemented, including guided tours to agricultural sites that incorporate traditional food experiences and cultural activities.

As part of its efforts to boost Islamic tourism, Brunei recently hosted a foreign TV station delegation to document the country’s Ramadan traditions. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to showcase Brunei’s cultural heritage to the global audience.

Positioning itself as a premier destination for nature, culture, as well as adventure tourism, Brunei continues to broaden and diversify its tourism industry with an emphasis on sustainability and authenticity.
