Nick Davidson, who blossomed into a two-time All-Mountain West honoree at Nevada, will enter the transfer portal, his agent, K.J. Smith, told On3Sports' Joe Tipton.
Davidson spent four seasons with the Wolf Pack, including a redshirt season in 2021-22. He was a key reserve in 2022-23 and one of the MW's top players the following two seasons.
A 6-foot-10, 238-pound forward, Davidson made the All-MW third team as a sophomore and was a second-team honoree as a junior. After completing his redshirt junior season this year, he has one more season of eligibility remaining.
Davidson scored a career-high 15.8 points this season, adding 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. He shot 50 percent from the field, including 37.1 percent from three.
Non-seniors must wait until March 24 to officially enter the transfer portal, but Davidson has already graduated from the school and can enter early. The team's top returning player, losing Davidson is a big blow to Nevada to open the offseason.
A former three-star recruit from Mater Dei in Southern California, Davidson improved each season in silver and blue with his redshirt season now granting him a fifth college year. Davidson's younger brother, Blake, signed with Nevada in the November signing period, giving hope to Wolf Pack fans the school might be able to retain the rising star in 2025-26. But after turning down heavy overtures from suitors last offseason, Davidson will see what he can find on the open market this spring.
Davidson's father (Kirk) and mother (Kelly) are both Nevada alums who played for the Wolf Pack. Nick, their oldest son, created his own legacy at Nevada by helping the Wolf Pack reach two NCAA Tournament berths in his three active seasons. As the No. 1 scoring option this year, the Wolf Pack struggled in 2024-25, going 17-16 and opting out of the postseason due to a roster limited by injuries and potential portal entries such as this one.
Davidson is the first Wolf Pack player to announce his intention to enter the portal, scrambling a Nevada roster that already was in need of some major additions this offseason. The Wolf Pack is losing six seniors and was set to return only three players who averaged at least 2.5 points per game this season in Davidson, Justin McBride (7.8 ppg) and Tyler Rolison (7.4 ppg).
Davidson should be one of the most highly sought-after big men in the portal with a strong inside-out game that has seen him make almost 60 percent of his two-point attempts while shooting a career-best 37.1 percent from three this season.
Nevada players with remaining eligibility include McBride, Rolison, Chuck Bailey III, Yuto Yamanouchi-Williams and Amire Robinson.
