'I voted for Donald Trump – now my wife is locked up in ICE custody'
Camila Muñoz was arrested at the airport after arriving home from her honeymoon in Puerto Rico as her application for a green card to stay in the US is currently being processed
A newlywed Trump supporter who voted to re-elect the controversial president has been left heartbroken after his new wife was taken away by an immigration agent.
Camila Muñoz had arrived back in the US from her honeymoon with Bradley Bartell in Puerto Rico when she was suddenly detained by Immigration Customs and Enforcement. It was reported she was in the process of applying for her green card to remain in the US after her working working visa had expired.
Camila, who had been legally in the US since 2019 from Peru, was taken to an immigration facility in Louisiana, trapped in a room with 100 other people.

He wrote: “My wife was detained at the end of our belated honeymoon while we were returning through the airport.
“This money will be used for legal support and the bond money for my wife. Any and all support is deeply appreciated.
“On top of the lawyer fees, I have been informed the bond could run upwards of 10k. So that is why it is set to that. Please do not put yourself out to support us in this matter, but if you have the means and would like to help it would be greatly appreciated.”
Bradley told USA Today : “I knew they were cracking down. I guess I didn’t know how it was going down.
“They know who she is and where she came from. They need to get the vetting done and not keep these people locked up. It doesn’t make any sense.
“Emotionally, I'm concerned for her. It can't be easy being trapped in a room with 100 other people. They don't have anything in there. It's just so wasteful.”
Shortly after stepping into the White House for a second term, Trump signed an executive order suspending decisions on refugee cases, and the US State Department halted new refugee applications. Additionally, processing centres in Central and South America, established under the Biden-era Safe Mobility Initiative, were dismantled.
Such centres allowed migrants in countries like Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Ecuador to apply for legal entry into the States. The program’s website now states: “Following a decision by the US government, the Safe Mobility Initiative is no longer active. New applications will not be accepted.”
Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary, said in January: “If an individual is overstaying their visa, they are therefore an illegal immigrant residing in this country, and they are subject to deportation."
