National Assembly to discuss Amiri speech, several reports Tues., Wed.

KUWAIT, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- National Assembly will discuss, in its sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Amiri speech and elect new members of foreign affairs and public utilities committees.
The session's agenda includes the discussion of the Amiri speech by which His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the second session of the 15 legislative term.
The National Assembly will begin its meeting with considering the committee's reports on draft resolutions and proposals as well as some amendments, including allowing military people to vote in elections, and granting exceptional pensions and special bonuses to retired military people.
The agenda contains a number of requests for discussion, including the housing issue, the application of domestic labor law, social assistance, unemployment, and financial and economic reform.
It involves requests for the formation of investigation committees into the appointment of prosecutors and sponsors of manpower.
The agenda comprises others reports on draft resolutions and proposals including changing Kuwait Airways to a private company, allowing the government to take a sum from general reserves and establishing Kuwaiti firms to take charge of building and carrying out power plants.
MPs also are set to discuss other draft resolutions or proposals, including the amendment of the Anti-Corruption Authority law, Kuwait's contribution to the capital of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and public assistance.
They will deal with the reports of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee on grants, foreign aid and agreements signed between the Government of Kuwait and NATO on the establishment and operation of the organization's regional center, within the Istanbul cooperation initiative and the Protocol Amending the Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization.
The agenda includes other reports which will be discussed by MPs during their session slated for Tuesday and Wednesday. (end).
