Doha: Many parts of Qatar have been affected by strong dust winds that have also impacted horizontal visibility.

Qatar Meteorology Department on its social media account warned of dust winds with visibility as low as 1km in most areas.

This condition is expected to remain the same for some time.

“Widespread dust is affecting the country with strong Northwesterly wind causing visibility to drop below 1 km in most areas. Please take extra care and follow attached (given below) safety tips as dusty conditions expected to continue until night time,” the Met added.

The Northwest wind speed now exceeds 28 knots in most areas with it rising up to 38 knots on Abu Samra road.

The department has issued a warning for motorists to be careful while driving. And for your safety, while driving, they urged to “keep the windows closed and use air conditioning instead of outside air.”
