The Malta U-17 waterpolo national team are currently in Slovakia where they are stepping up their preparations for the upcoming European Junior Championships qualification tournament which will be played in Malta between April 30 and May 4.

During their stay in Slovakia, the Maltese youngsters, under the charge of coach Karl Izzo, have been training and playing friendly matches to step up their intensity before their commitments in the continental qualifiers.

In the first two days, the Maltese team played against the U-20 KVP Novaky side and won both matches.

On Wednesday, the Maltese selection played against the Slovakian U-17 national team. After five sessions of 15 minutes each, Malta won the game 20-13.

On Thursday, morning the two teams met again in another friendly and Karl Izzo's team again won the match 19-13.

Besides training and competing, most of the players are also studying for their MATSEC O-Levels. The players are having study sessions with the tutor the ASA engaged to accompany the team in Slovakia.
