30th ANNUAL SAY NO TO DRUGS HOLIDAY CLASSIC SPREADS DRUG-FREE MESSAGE
Overall winners for the race and top winners by age category were awarded for the 1 mile, 5K and 10K races.
The proceeds for this yearly event were presented to local Girl Scout Troops, the Boy Scouts of America Pinellas County District, and the Pinellas Sheriff Police Athletic League.
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World Florida, who has partnered with the race for many years, sponsored an “educational" booth at the event. Drug-Free World volunteers encouraged runners to sign the drug-free pledge promising to lead a drug-free life. The runners also received a “Truth About Synthetic Drugs” informational booklet in their goodie bag and were offered additional copies of other drug education booklets from the Foundation’s booth.
“Synthetics Drugs are very dangerous drugs,” said Julieta Santagostino the President of Foundation for a Drug-Free World Florida Chapter, “It’s important that people are educated on them and understand what they are.”
If anyone would like free copies of any of any of the booklet or would like more information, they can visit the Foundation for Drug Free World information center at 41 N. Fort Harrison Ave, or call them at (727) 467-6962. They can also be reached by email at info.fl@drugfreeworld.org.
The Foundation for a Drug Free World is a non-profit organization that educates youth and the community on the truth about drugs, so they can make the right decision to live drug-free. The Church of Scientology is a sponsor of the program making it possible for the Foundation to provide educational materials at no cost to educators, law enforcement and the community. Scientology’s Founder, L. Ron Hubbard, said, “Drugs rob life of the sensations and joys which are the only reasons for living anyhow.”
